The CEV65M-110-03075 is a very old model. It operates on an RS485 communication protocol with a resolution of 512512. Encoders with such low resolution are rare nowadays; the standard has generally started at 40964096.
A customer inquired about an alternative solution for this product, mainly due to procurement difficulties. When I reviewed the documentation, I realized this is a dual-output encoder. Dual-output encoders with the RS485 protocol are also not common now; typically, a single output line or an M23 connector would suffice.
Since the customer does not have technical staff and prefers the same connection method, we agreed and ultimately provided an alternative solution.
Firstly, we addressed the flange issue; it is a 65mm clamping flange. The 10mm solid shaft is also a standard size. With experience in replacing TR encoders, it becomes apparent that a 65mm flange is their standard configuration.
Then, we connected the 65mm flange with a 58mm housing. This completes the exterior structure. The most critical part here is the internal electrical structure, which requires adjusting to a 512*512 resolution. Our technical staff will handle this aspect.
Finally, we completed this relatively simple substitution.
For such old models, there are actually many alternative solutions. However, the customer chose the most challenging one. Solving it with a single output line would be simpler, or using an M23 connector is not complex either. Adopting the original dual-output wiring method requires an additional connector.
No matter, it's just a bit more troublesome.
This model is probably not in use by many people now, and there are still some old machines that use it. Most are spare part demands, which might be difficult to procure. I write this blog post and publish it, so if anyone needs it, they can find a place for spare part customization.
