The encoder model CRD66-8192R4096C2Z01 is a product launched by TWK, belonging to the Profibus-DP communication protocol encoder series.
In recent years, the procurement of this encoder model has been quite challenging, especially domestically. Particularly, metallurgical enterprises have consistently faced difficulties in sourcing this product.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, procurement became even more difficult. A steel company approached us to design an alternative solution to address their procurement issues, hence the emergence of customized replacement products.
During the process of resolving the custom solution, two main issues were addressed:
- The installation size needed to be resolved, primarily focusing on the flange part. Based on the blueprint of the original product, the corresponding flange was machined through a machining center.
- The mechanical and electrical parts needed to be resolved. In this regard, we have ready-made solutions that can be directly matched and used.
By addressing these two issues, we quickly completed the alternative solution for the encoder. We delivered the first customer's order within three weeks, and since then, we have continuously received orders for customized production. These are generally used in older machinery, such as extruders.
These older machines require original spare parts, which are no longer procurable, and can only be solved by customized production. Now, with the production of alternative products, there is no need to worry about the unavailability of spare parts.
Today, I am writing this note to document the substitution situation of this product.
There are no particularly challenging parts to record today. The main purpose is to write a passage to facilitate those in need, so that we can assist friends who have difficulty in purchasing. After all, this product has been discontinued and is no longer procurable.
As for why the original model was discontinued, we do not know. Some customers have come to inquire about this issue. Perhaps it is due to product upgrades or insufficient demand.
Regardless, the official production has ceased. We can provide corresponding alternative products to help solve applications.
In summary, there are still solutions available.
