Over the past two years, there has been an increasing number of inquiries about the BTF13-A1AM1020 encoder model. This month alone, four customers have sought alternative solutions, reportedly because the official production has been discontinued.
The BTF13-A1AM1020 is a draw-wire displacement sensor introduced by SICK, a company known for its industrial sensors and solutions. It is speculated that the original model was discontinued due to the upgrade of newer product models, which has caused some distress for applying enterprises. Many suppliers are not familiar with the product parameters and can only purchase based on the model number.
We have been producing alternatives for the BTF13-A1AM1020 for several years, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, the shipment volume has been relatively high. As it is a standard product, the demand is considerable.
At the beginning of this month, a customer ordered 15 replacement units. This is one of our longstanding customers, a supplier to a steel mill. They urgently required the delivery of 15 units, and the customer's deadline was quite tight. We managed to complete the delivery within one week.
The product itself is not overly complex; it consists of an SSI encoder combined with a draw-wire mechanism. Since we frequently produce this type of product, we have a complete set of components on hand. Assembly and testing are all that is required.
Our alternative solution is a direct replacement, with 1:1 installation dimensions and application parameters. The photo above is of our product, which looks excellent.
This is one of our key promoted products. Being so familiar with this product, we had almost forgotten to share it. Yesterday, a new customer feedback said, "Why not share it earlier?" Oh dear!
